Freequently asked questions

Charity

How much of the money goes to the charity organisations?

As much as we can, that's why we exist!

We devote minimum 50% of our entire income to charity. This is so rare that we can’t wait for the day when other companies do the same.

We always do our absolute best to get as much of the prizes sponsored, which means that whenever we get something sponsored, more than 50% goes directly to the charity. Our kickback is never more than 10%, and the influencers are never paid to do this.

Let us explain our costs:

Our amazing competitions cost money to arrange. (unless they are sponsored) As you probably have guessed- we must source the awesome prizes you can win. We also invest in our platform to make sure we have solid and up to date technique, keeping all of our donors and charities safe and making sure all competitions are fair. We cover the cost of content production and credit card fees. We must also spread the word that we exist so our donors (awesome people like you!) can find us. That is called marketing and marketing cost money.

When the charity has gotten minimum 50% and all costs of running the campaign are covered, Charity Rebel's kickback is maximum 10%. Yeah we know, it's not much. But our mission and the reason Charity Rebels exist is to raise the total amount donated to charities. And again- we challenge other companies to do the same.

Who benfits from Charity Rebels?

In the long run - everybody is. At least that is our goal.  We want to do good, probably just as much as you do. And here is the thing - while we do good, the companies behind the prizes that YOU can win contribute as well, just like our Rebel Heros in our campaigns. And last but not least the charity organisations who do amazing work. Charity Rebels is a platform where no one is excluded; everyone can do something, even if it’s just sharing our story.

Which charity organisations profit from Charity Rebels?

We let each Rebel Hero decide where the profit raised in each competition should be donated. The organisation chosen must, however, be an approved Non-Profit organisation by our partner Target Aid. (TA)

All donations made on Charity Rebels are transferred to TA. This ensures that funds are securely and efficiently delivered to the causes and that all Non- Profits follow ethical and safety regulations. Upon the closing of the campaign, the given charity will receive the net funds of the campaign via TA.

The preapproval process at TA is carried out by the companies Pennybridge AB on behalf of TA. All applicable laws and regulations are followed in the transfer of funds from participants to the recipient. Youcal AB holds a license as a Payment Institution under the Swedish Law and is under the supervision of Finansinspektionen.

What if I just want to donate to the charities involved?

For those who may want to donate without participating in any Charity Rebels competition you can submit your direct donation online at www.charityrebels.com/donateonly via a simple payment method such as credit card and Swish.

I am a nonprofit, and I’d like to work with you. What do I do?

We will be more than happy to help you continue doing your world changing work! Send us an email at contact@charityrebels.com and we will pass it on to Target Aid to help verify your organisation. Please remember, it is up to our Charity Hero to choose his or her dedicated organization based on the qualitfications set out by Target Aid.

About us

What is Charity Rebels?

Long story: Charity Rebels want to be the number one platform that the digital generation turns to when they want to have a playful experience while make a social impact and contribute to positive changes in the world.

Short story: We organize really fun competitions where you can win absolutely amazing prices AND we devote minimum 50% of our entire income to charities.

Why was Charity Rebels founded?

Charity Rebels started in a shared vision between us, three Swedish female founders. We wanted to make dreams available to everyone, anywhere. How is that even possible, you may ask? Well, we figured out a way - which resulted in a platform where anyone could win absolutely amazing prizes and dream-come-true experiences. So here we are, giving you the chance to fulfil your dream while devoting the majority of our income to non-profits! You heard us - Giving is winning!

In what way are you Rebels?

Charity Rebels exist to empower all amazing Non- Profits out there to do their world- changing work. Unfortunately, that's harder than it should be since the way we think about charity is dead wrong. Charities are often criticized for investing in ways to raise awareness — it’s almost like they’re not “allowed” to market themselves like For- Profit companies are. Instead, they have to rely on time-consuming galas, expensive events and fancy auctions to raise money. However, these events are usually only once or twice a year, they cost tons of money to organize and are accessible only to those who can afford it. So the charity’s fundraising needs are very often not met. We want to disrupt the way we think about charity and how to raise money. It’s really simple if you think about it - more money for charity is better than less, no matter how it was achieved. And if we can achieve this and at the same time make it fun and inviting for everyone to contribute, we have all won.

Because of generosity from people like you, Charity Rebels work and the services we provide are challenging traditional thinking about fundraising—we work to change it for the better.

Is Charity Rebels a charity organisation?

If you are referring to the legal term Non- Profit we are not. We are a company that can make Profit.

But our promise and mission is that minimum 50% of our entire income is devoted to Non- Profits.

We are Rebels and want to challenge the way people think and talk about charity. We decided very early on that we want to make a big impact. And to be able to make a big impact we need to make our business big as well - something that is not possible when bound by the legal and social requirements of a Non- Profit. In fact we want to have as high income as possible so we can donate AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Remember- we donate 50% of our entire income!

That is why we founded this kick-ass for-profit business idea. Why? The simple answer is - to be able to maximize the funds to all fantastic non-profits out there who are already amazing at what they do. So here we are, offering absolutely amazing experiences and prices to win - and contrary to any other company out there- 50% of our entire income is donated to Non- Profits! We challenge other companies to do the same.

Prizes and winners

How do you pick the winners?

The winner is picked using a completely automatic and safe drawing system with no man handling to fully ensure a legit and safe procedure completely based on random luck. Both donating entrances and AME entrances have equal chances of winning.

Also, to keep things fair, full-time and part-time employees of Charity Rebels, Target Aid, our Charities or Prize Provider for the applicable competition, and members of their household and immediate families (i.e., parents, partners, siblings, and children), are not allowed to enter. Additionally, any individual that uses a bot, software, or any other codes, instructions or third-party software for the purpose of automatically entering into a competition (or multiple competitions) or in any way that provides an unfair advantage over individuals that enter manually, will be disqualified from the competition they entered and all future competitions, subject to Charity Rebels sole discretion.

If I win, will I be personally responsible to pay taxes on a prize?

No. This is a competition based on random drawings, therefore no taxes are to be paid.

If I win an experience that requires travel and accommodations, will I be personally responsible to cover that cost?

If travel to participate in an experience is required, it can sometimes be included in the prize and sometimes not. Each competition will have a detailed summary of what is included in the prize so make sure to check it out.

If I’m under 18, am I eligible to win?

All competition entrants must be 18 years of age or older unless otherwise specified on the actual competition. However, some prizes and items include the ability to bring a guest, and guest ages are to be determined in collaboration with the donor—some of whom will permit younger guests to join.

How do you contact and announce winners?

Winners will be announced on our instagram @charityrebels and via email and newsletter. Don’t worry- as long as you provided your correct contact details- you won’t miss if you win.

How?

When a campaign closes, we’ll use an automated random drawing process to draw a potential winner(s) for that campaign. A confirmation process, which may include a background check, will then take place to ensure the potential winner meets the legal standards required. Winner and, if applicable, their guest(s) agree to cooperate fully with Charity Rebels when we perform any background checks, which includes providing information requested by Charity Rebels, such as, but not limited to, full legal names and addresses.

If the Prize includes meeting a celebrity, meeting a public figure, or attending a special event and any background check indicates, in Charity Rebels sole discretion, that the potential winner or the potential winner’s guest(s) pose a danger to or may harm the reputation of any person involved in the competition, Charity Rebels may disqualify the winner and move on to the next randomly drawn potential winner. Pending a positive outcome of the confirmation process,  Charity Rebels will notify the potential winner via email and/or phone.

Before confirming a potential winner as the winner, Charity Rebels may require the potential winner to confirm their eligibility. Once that’s done, the potential winner and guest(s) must execute and return all required documents within the time frame specified by Charity Rebels. If you do not execute and return all required documents within the time frame specified by Charity Rebels, you will forfeit the Prize and Charity Rebels will move on to another randomly drawn potential winner.

Our influencer heros

Why are Charity Rebels co-operationg with Influencers/famous people?

Because we are Charity Rebels. We want to reach as many donors as possible and because we trust our influencers. By pairing influencers with chosen Non- Profits Charity Rebels add good to already existing ecosystems. Everywhere in social media we see influencers who either help charities fundraise OR collaborate with brands to give away great products and prices for their followers to win.

But really- why not do both and get a bigger win?

How are the Influencers picked?

There are hundreds of thousands of fantastic influencers out there and it is impossible for us to collaborate with everybody. If you think you have what it takes to be a Charity Rebel Hero, please read more here

Does your influencers / Rebel Heros get paid to do these collaborations?

No, they are not paid to do this. They waive their usual fees so that a bigger amount can go directly to the charity.

Why don’t you ask the influencers to fundraise without prizes to win? Wouldn’t that mean more money to the charity?

By adding something fun to the fundraising that anyone can win we believe that we can attract more donors, and most importantly, we attract donors that do not traditionally give money to charities.

We do however our absolut best to get as much of the prizes sponsored as possible, which means that more than 50% can go directly to the charity. Our kickback is never more than 10%, and the influencers are never paid to do this.
